Annette Rydin

Annette Rydin came to sculpture through theatre — a training that left her permanently attuned to gesture, presence, and the charged moment before movement resolves. Eight years in London's commercial sculpture workshops gave her a technical command that now underpins work of an entirely different order: limited-edition bronze and bronze resin pieces that draw on ancient folklore, mythology, and the iconography of Egyptian and Chinese deities. 

Based in Dorset, she manages every stage of the process herself — from the initial clay model to the welding of armatures, moulding, and casting. The result is work of unusual integrity: what you see is entirely what she made. Pieces such as Noble Flight and Dance of Life carry the particular authority of sculpture that understands what it means to hold still.
