Margaret Johnson
Margaret Johnson studied Fine Art and Sculpture at Goldsmiths before developing a practice that moves between glass, fiber, and mixed media in ways that are difficult to categorise and easy to recognise. Working from her studio in Exeter, she constructs glass bowls, vessels, and panels using straw silk fibers, layering translucency against translucency, and finishing each piece with gold or silver leaf.
Her recurring subjects — water, fish, the shimmer of light through moving things — feel less like choices than inevitabilities. The glass invites them. The light does the rest.
