Lorna Doyan

Lorna Doyan studied History of Art at Nottingham University, and that education in looking — in understanding how light, composition, and surface create meaning — runs through everything she makes. From her studio in Crouch End, she constructs three-dimensional butterfly wall art by hand, each piece built to shift and breathe as the light around it changes throughout the day. 

The raised wings cast shadows that are never quite the same twice. At the heart of every work, at least one butterfly is gilded in genuine 24-carat gold, copper, or platinum leaf — a still point of reflection in a composition that is always quietly in motion. Her work is held in private collections internationally.
